State of the Arts in the Española Public Schools

The New Mexico Fine Arts Education Act (FAEA) was passed in 2003. Its purpose is to encourage school districts to offer opportunities for elementary school students to participate in fine arts activities, including visual arts, music, theater, and dance. Public schools and charter schools throughout our state receive these funds. They are made available on an annual basis, provided districts submit a plan which is reviewed by the New Mexico Public Education Department. This school year, Española Public Schools received approximately $480,000. Funds are distributed to schools based on their enrollments.
